Beautiful Weather

It’s hard to believe it’s the end of January and temperatures are so pleasant. This weekend was just absolutely beautiful in the French Quarter. Everyone was in short sleeves and enjoying the sunshine. If only this holds out for Mardi Gras it will be a great time for all.

Smiles go by on the Street Car

A street car passed by and we were greeted by the smiles of folks enjoying the views of New Orleans or perhaps just on their way to an everyday trip to market.

Over on the Mississippi River the Carnival Elation and the Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas breaks from port to make way into the Gulf for a more tropical destination.

After the sun goes down the crowds build on Bourbon Street under the glow of the neon signs. Even though the temperature may have cooled a bit there’s enough excitement here to keep everyone warm for the night.

Alabama 21 LSU 0

Some referred to it as the “rematch of the century.” It turned out to be the biggest joke of the new year so far to a lot of Tiger fans. Never the less it was great to see the huge crowds on Bourbon Street enjoying themselves and my congratulations to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama has a great school and they have always taken pride in their football team. LSU will just have to do better next time.

Regardless of what happens in the world of football you can be sure of one thing, the party will keep going strong on Bourbon Street the heart and soul of the French Quarter. Come back soon!

Zeppelin over Bourbon Street

It’s not often one sees a zeppelin over Bourbon Street and the New Orleans Super Dome. But it has happened before. This has truly been a huge tailgating party and it’s not quiet over yet.

Regardless of which teams win or lose I hope everyone has a great time in the French Quarter and most importantly of all I hope everyone makes it home safely.
